Diablo 4: Made Small Progress with Sorcerer

I decided to test the new cable modem I acquired which complimented my increase in bandwidth recently. While I didn’t have terrible problems in the past, occasionally I would encounter severe lag in the game and couldn’t really figure out where the bottlenecks were since the game isn’t well optimized from what I can tell. After upgrading my gaming laptop to a newer one, the main issues dropped but periodically I would get slowness out of nowhere. I know it wasn’t just me but I needed to figure out what other things I could do to improve the performance. Right now, my net sits around 450mb which is roughly a 7x times increase from before so the types of issues with networking I encountered before should have gone away.

For the most part, the game does seem to perform a little better. However, the common issues with slowness now are around being in town whenever I talk to a vendor or open my stash. These problems still persist and I’m sure it’s something on Blizzard’s side now. It’s something that people have complained about but I don’t know what the specific issue is here. But it’s definitely a game problem not my computer nor network anymore.

At any rate, I’ve been playing my Sorcerer doing more T7 Inferno Hordes. I managed to get a few items upgraded to Masterworking 12/12 as well as finding a new Fractured Winterglass with two Greater Affixes (one being the Conjuration CDR). So I swapped my other FW over and started upgrading the new one. My next goal is to finish upgrading my weapon and probably working on the Tal Rasha ring just to bump up the cooldown a little more. I will say that the Masterwork feels a little better. Not hugely but it’s a slow process. I don’t have the right critical hits on the main affixes but at this stage I just want to get my gear into a better spot.

One thing I haven’t tried is a T8 Infernal Horde. I’ve heard a few horror stories about the amount of time it takes to do the Council fight and it simply didn’t appeal to me. From what I read, it’s better just to farm T7s. I’m hitting around 200 350 materials which is good right up until the MW 12. I thought about just using my Sorcerer to continue farming T7s for my other characters once her gear is fully upgraded. I don’t know if I’ll bother trying to min/max her gear though.

On the other hand, I have been enjoying non-Infernal Horde content, namely Legion events and Helltides. The Blood Maiden in Helltides goes down really quick now and I’m able to farm enough materials to open most crates. So that part is fun.

Maybe the only real goal left is to try and acquire an Andariel’s Visage because I would like to try a Rogue with that item. I don’t know if I’d level up a fresh rogue or just repurpose my Heartseeker rogue. At this stage of the game, I’m mostly waiting for the expansion.

On a side note, I read that D3 will be getting a PTR soon. There’s no real new features except to test some hardware. But the big thing I read is that the next season will involve the 4th Kanai’s Cube slot and Shadow Clones from Shrines. There’s a high likelihood that I’ll play that season because it was quite fun and there’s a few combinations I would like to try after all the changes made to various builds. I don’t know how far I’ll go as it usually depends on what Challenge Rifts we get. I did read that the new season will probably hit in October but I assume it won’t overlap with the new D4 Season 6 and expansion release.
